F1 Winter Testing 2011-12

- This will be the penultimate year of V8 2.4 litre Formula 1 – and what better way to get some winter sunshine than watching the teams run lots of laps in the winter Spanish sun?
- Jerez
- from 7th – 11 February 2012
- Barcelona
- From 21st to 24th February 2012
- From 1st to 4th March 2012
I’d be interested to hear from anybody who has been to these tests, I used to go to Silverstone with a pair of steps, so that I could see over the top of the wire fence, to take some good photos…
Are there vantage points open to general public which provide good photo opportunities?
As a memeber of a fan club of any of the teams you used to be able to get access to the pits for an hour at lunchtimes, althought with 30,000 spaniards all trying to meet Fernando Alonso, I’m not sure this would occur at Barcelona..
On the same subject, how different will the cars look?
Maybe slightly less long, and maybe they wont have the air intake behind the drivers head? – I’d also expect that someone will have listened to Lewis Hamilton moaning about rear view mirrors, and by the 2013 or 2014 F1 season there may be bigger and more effective mirrors on F1 cars! – or why not have a rear facing camera mounted on the rear wing and have a 3 inch display on the steering wheel?
